Exploring the Ethics of Professional Boundaries
Have you ever been asked your martial status? Your religious or political ideations? How do we safely answer these questions, without crossing any boundaries? Now more then ever our clients/patients want to know more and more about us. How do we uphold professional boundaries while still fostering a therapeutic relationship? This workshop will provide you with hands on experience, we will utilize various case examples and ethical decision making frameworks. An emphasis will be placed in exploring dual relationships and boundary issues to enhance and improve ethical responsibilities and reduce ethical violations. A sample of issues discussed will be maintaining and upholding professional relationships, money exchanges, gift giving and receiving, disclosure and so much more.
Participants will be able to engage in activities that will allow them to further analyze and apply the various codes of ethics to further understand the importance of professional boundaries. This is an interactive workshop were cases vignettes will be presented and participants will work in a group setting to further maximize their understanding of the concepts presented.
