Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this advance course, participants will be able to: 

  1. Explore the statistics and propensity of suicide, including but not limited to gender differences, warning signs, risk and protective factors. 
  2. Demonstrate an understanding of issues related to conducting a comprehensive suicide risk assessment. 
  3. Clinically analyze differential diagnosis and explore various assessment tools including the Suicide Risk-Assessment Tool, the ASQ screening tool and many more. 
  4. Effectively analyze and explore a variety of intervention and prevention techniques to reduce suicide. 
  5. Deconstruct case examples to illustrate how to effectively conduct a suicide risk assessment.
