Webinar Title:
Unpacking and Repacking Trauma Narratives using Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
Complex trauma changes the way an individual views themselves, others and the world around them. Often times due to these pervasive trauma’s individuals develop negative and automatic thoughts, often referred to as “stuck points”. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps individuals to recognize these stuck points that often impede one’s ability to process and heal from trauma. CPT is an evidenced-based treatment modality that has been proven to be effective in treating individuals with complex trauma. It has been endorsed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Defense, the American Psychological Association, the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and many more to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and related conditions. Through the use of case vignettes, videos, polls and group discussions attendees will learn effective and concrete tools to help their clients unpack and repack their trauma narratives using CPT. While CPT is a treatment modality often used with active service and veterans, research has indicated that it can be used with a wide range of individuals with a primary diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder regardless of military experience.
This webinar will provide you with an array of tools, resources and handouts to help clients/patients with PTSD get unstuck so that they can heal despite their trauma narratives. This is an interactive workshop where cases vignettes will be presented, discussed and processed in a group dynamic.
